Peerless Electric
West Jordan, Utah
The Peerless Electric building is a 15,000 square foot, three-story structure that boasts efficient construction and remarkably high quality thin-brick on architectural exposed concrete tilt-up walls. This unique building includes extended joint concrete floors, which are polished in the office and are sealed in the warehouse spaces. Other features of the building are the use of varied sandblasting which required meticulous planning and execution. The use of thin-brick tilt-up saved significant money over traditional brick, while delivering a high-quality finish.
The building was designed to reflect the history of the industrial area of the Salt Lake Valley, the exterior surfaces are of such craftsmanship that they are also highlighted as part of the interior design with features such as a fireplace built into the architectural tilt panel in the office space. Other concrete design aspects included the raw steel stair with cable railings and reclaimed timber stair treads. Hughes spent a great deal of time to get the design and final product to the expectations for how the design team and owner envisioned it.
