Washington Fields Intermediary School

St. George, UT

The Washington Fields Intermediate School is a 135,000-square-foot, two-story tilt-up building in St. George. The concrete tilt-up panels are integrally colored and are sandblasted for contrast. Design also included multiple reveals to coordinate with the windows and store front. Many of the panels are curved and were specifically designed to look and feel like Venetian plaster and to offer a bulletproof, high-quality finish. Hughes coordinated masonry among the tilt braces to develop a unique combination of interior and exterior tilt-up panels and interior masonry. Unlike typical tilt-up projects, Washington Fields masonry and tilt-up construction happened simultaneously, allowing for better adherence to the school district’s schedule.
